Is anybody else getting tired of hiring how little acclaim Hunter Hillenmeyer does not get?
At what point does all this discussion of how good someone is actually becomes acclaim?
underrated -> receives little acclaim -> burgeoning star -> "heart of the defense" -> "watch his eyes"

In all seriousness, I think that announcers feel it's their power to turn good role players into "stars". Hillenmeyer is good, to be sure; however, I think it's just that they have to talk about someone other than Urlacher, Briggs or Harris. I'll be controversial and say it might also have to do with his skin color.
I'll pick on Dave's Bulls and say that Toni Kukoc and Steve Kerr were elevated above their actual value in a similar manner.
