As someone who never buys anything that isn't on clearance, the $150,000 Sarah Palin spending spree astonishes me. I know she is in the spotlight, but seriously.John Edwards got ripped on for his $400 hair cuts, but she gets to spend $15,000 a month on a make-up artist? I have embedded a video of the supposed "uppity" candidate and his family talking about dressing on a budget. But I guess he can't relate to the Joe ______s of the country.

While I'm rather horrified at this latest, I'm not especially surprised. It's great being a pessimist -- you're either pleasantly surprised or being proven correct.
That being said, let's not get crazy with this "Obamas as frugal spenders" meme. Are you really going to tell me that the Obamas don't have ridiculous spending items of their own?
This doesn't bother me as much as the divisive comments coming from Palin and GOP spokespeople (real Virginia, pro-America, etc). However, the Louis Vuitton bag is a bit much. They should have spent $100K of that budget on tutoring.
There really is a sort of 'eating of the seed corn' aspect of the McCain-Palin campaign's rhetoric. Yet another aspect of a poorly run campaign.
