So Sarah Palin gave a speech last night -- apparently it was quite campaign-oriented. I'm thinking of offering liberals Palin insurance that would pay out in the unlikely event that she would actually win the Presidency.
It should be like ten bucks a year, and pay out like, I dunno, 100 or 200 dollars. Palin's enough of a bogey-woman that I think I could make a pretty penny on this (or lose my shirt.)

You can keep track of those who buy it by writing their names on your hand.
You could call it "Maverick Energy Independence Death Panel Insurance".
Jim, what is your opinion of Palin?
I think Palin rose to her level of incompetence when she was governor. She was young/naive enough to do a make a couple of good ethics reforms, and the rest was typical politics.
She simply does not have the resume that we (the American electorate) expects from serious presidential candidates. Therefore, she will never win. It just won't happen.
Who are the serious contenders for the Republicans in 2012? And Jim, what the American electorate expects and what we expect out of a candidate are entirely different things.
Serious contenders? Tough question. Off the top of my head, Pawlenty, Romney, Huckabee, Palin, Jindal (?).
What do I mean by "resume"?
Look at the candidates for the last twenty years:
Obama/McCain
Bush/Kerry
Bush/Gore
Clinton/Dole
Clinton/Bush
Bush/Dukakis
What can you draw from this? You have to be either a senator or a governor. If a senator, very, very long serving (w/exception to Obama, who had the aid of an awful economy and an inept opponent). If a governor, you must have been elected twice or more. GHWB was a vice-president for 8 years by the time he ran for office.
Palin simply does not match up to these standards. As I said (on this blog!), she was the equivalent of putting a rookie QB into a starting spot in like week 6 of a lost season. Unless something drastically changes, she simply will not survive the nomination fight nor will she win the Presidency. It just won't happen.
Jim,
I can let you borrow Going Rogue. It was Rich's gift to me at the Christmas party.
That book, like many other political books, was doubtless not written by her.
Click on the link to see a sample of something that was...

That was either written by Palin, or Ted Kaczynski.
