Easter Weekend

I was recently hijacked by the "Glenn Beck Wing" of the Republican Party this weekend, and they assured me that Obama's budget wouldn't allow you to donate to certain charities. Knowing that most of this Wing relies on random, non-factual e-mails, I tried to find the correct information myself. The only thing I could come with is the plan to cap tax write offs for folks making over 200G's a year. This cap would decrease the deductible amount of a charitable donation from 33% to 28%. Nowhere could I find anything about restricting which charitable organization you could donate to. If any other Taylorites can help me find info on this it would be greatly appreciative. Nothing would make me happier than having cited facts to prove that their claim was bogus.

I am not interested in wading through them myself, but you may find the original e-mail on the blog titled "My Right Wing Dad", which is a collection of right/populist e-mail forwards.

What I want to know is how the Navy SEALs will get away with shooting pirates after Obama took away all the guns? Late last week, the Laura Ingram show described the current administrations effort towards the pirates as the 2nd Carter Administration and bring in the FBI since Obama forbids the use of weapons. Last night, a caller during Jim Bohannon, a much more rational show, described Obama's dealing of the crisis as frightening in the way he tried to ignore the issue.

Coupled with these Tea Parties, there is no doubt in my mind that the right wing is continuing to scare their base with misinformation.

Increased gun regulation, increased taxes on a majority of americans, unlimited gay rights, unlimited abortion, cloning, over regulation of business, major cuts in defense spending, weak in Europe/tyrant at home...

Please someone list for the outright lies pushed by the left during the Bush Administration, lies about WMD, the state of the Iraq War (which the right now says was a huge success), lies about the response to Katrina, Wiretapping, Scotter Libby/Cheney's involvement in Valerie Plame...

Rich, to respond frankly, what are you doing listening to either one of those shows? Is it entertainment or intelligence gathering?

If you'd like to find out what the conservative intelligentsia is thinking about, I have some blogs to suggest. If you wish to troll the fever swamps, be my guest -- but don't catch malaria in the process.

Jim, in your days away you have forgotten that Talk Radio in South Bend is conservative radio or ESPN which is dependent on the sport (conservative: golf, NASCAR, Hockey, poker?; moderate: baseball or soccer or football; liberal: basketball, cycling)

Today on my way to a Drs appt I listened to Rush....AAAAHHHHHHH.....that said I did learn that the woman in Germany jumped into the polar bear tank to save (hug) them and she should sue Al Gore whose lies about global warning has made the world mad including Fox producers for their Green PSAs after the show "24."

On the way home I learned that Glen Beck will be heading to the tea parties "just to report on them" and to do a scheduled fundraiser "as a private citizen"....grass roots my friends...

I don't think I would call that a productive attempt at intelligence gathering...
