Round 1....

Ok, so here's the deal, I want gut reaction electoral college predictions and popular vote percentage predictions.  What I'll do is post the Electoral College maps from 2000 and 2004 .  Respond in the comments section with a list of the states you expect to go for each party and the total electoral college tally.  This is supposed to be a first guess, we'll do it again after the Conventions when we know full tickets.  We'll find some kind of bragging rights trophy for the winner, a hanging chad or something.  So there ya go, Pick 'em!  (man, I can't wait to say that about football again....)
* Note* - The 2008 Electoral College is the same as 2004, so use the right tallies!

Per Jim's request, if you would like to post your picks based on changes from 2004 thats cool, just start with "Same as 2004 EXCEPT..." and then post which states you think will flip.

I just assumed that was that new-fangled math, but perhaps Bruce is correct. Surely we can do better than 3 picks... Dave, you still out there? Don't make me start harassing before football season....

Actually I accidentally added 100 electoral votes to McCain. He should be 222 with a total of 538.

I don't think Rove has figured out a way to get to 638, although putting gay marriage back on state ballots is a start.

We all know the Republican playbook, most people have bitter feelings towards Washington and thus they vote to save their religious beliefs and the constitutional rights. Sound familiar?
